HANOI - UMA President Mr. August Wingardh paid a visit to Raffles International College on April 29 to choose high-quality designs made by Raffles Students for their staff uniform. UMA Ltd. Co. is a well-known home furniture design and manufacturing company based in Hanoi. Having attracted the attention of this prestigious company has made President August�s visit an important event to Raffles students, as it opens up work opportunities, as well as offering a chance to experience first-hand fashion and design from the manufacturer�s perspective.

When asked to give his opinion about Raffles students, Mr. August showed great appreciation for their work and spoke highly of their skills. After having had several opportunities to work with them, the UMA President concluded that Raffles students master most of the technical tools while at the same time demonstrating great creativity and enthusiasm. He is confident that Raffles students� adaptability will ensure excellent performance even in the most demanding work environments.

One such example is Mr. Tran Khanh Quan, a Raffles student, who undertook the internship program at UMA last year. Upon completion of the internship, Quan�s dedication and quality work were rewarded with an offer to join UMA full-time. Thus, Quan became part of the driving force behind UMA�s interest in further collaborating with Raffles students.

During the internship, Quan designed UMA sight board, wall banners and window promotional stickers for UMA retail shop in Kim Ma and My Dinh. He also helped with �Super Saturday�, a highly successful promotional campaign through which UMA introduced new products and offered discounts. According to Mr. August, Mr. Tran has shown exceptional skills in the quality of his work, and has proved himself as a valuable co-worker.

In an interview, Quan talked about Raffles with pride �It is to Raffles that I owe everything that is worthwhile in my life now. I want to express my gratitude towards my beloved lecturers, and a special thanks goes to Visual Communication Lecturer Mr. Roger who not only teaches me how to draw and use technical tools effectively, but also how to think and behave to the high standards of an international work environment.
